The Eastmont Art Fund's second annual fundraising art exhibit 'Art as Witness, Capturing Community Values.” Proceeds will be used to hire local artists to teach cultural workshops at the 2008 Family Gathering, a community-building program organized by the Easthampton-based Rosenberg Fund for Children. February 16th through March 22nd.

The Eastmont Art Fund's mission is to involve local artists in fundraising for local organizations to their MUTUAL benefit: artists receive commissions on all sales of original artwork, and the remaining proceeds benefit the designated community organization. Additionally, the jury–selected winning artwork will be published in a limited edition, archival print and both the artist and beneficiary group will receive income from the sale of these prints.

As a child, I had and continue to have a great love of nature. I was fascinated by the vibrant colors of sunsets, flowers, sea and landscapes. My goal as an artist is to capture the very things that change quickly due to the season, weather or aging and present them to the viewer. I like to give each piece a bit of life and vitality by using pure and intensified colors. Often my art has been described as being therapeutic in the sense that it can uplift you.

Originally born in the Berkshires but artistically reborn in the Valley, I consider the ability to appreciate nature a gift and to be able to capture it a true prize. I will be adding a touch of Spring to my exhibit and hope you will join me in celebrating the upcoming season. I call this photo 'Camouflage'. Still working with film, no touch-ups but will soon join the modern scene and dabble with digital....coming soon.
Inspiration to all,
Cheers

I am Terry Spier, designer and maker of fine, beaded jewelry. My beadwork – necklaces, bracelets, earrings and sets – are all created from my imagination and my belief that jewelry is art – to be worn, enjoyed and loved. Each piece that is created in my studio is handmade, individual and unique. Many pieces incorporate unusual, irreplaceable beads and findings from other countries. I pride myself in my one-of-a-kind creations and in also doing special pieces commissioned by buyers. My love of natural stone and color is represented by my use of jasper, turquoise, coral and amazonite, to name a few. Swarovski crystals are often used in my creations and add vibrant color and intensity. Sterling silver from Bali, Israel and Thailand complements the precious and semi-precious stones, ceramic beads and glass that come from many different cultures and continents. I only use professional grade supplies in my creations and each piece is certain to be appreciated for years to come.

Elizabeth Solomon
Medium:
Painting - Oil
Venue:
Easthampton City Arts
Address:
43 Main St.
Event:
Elizabeth has been part of the One Cottage Street artist community in Easthampton, Massachusetts since 1985.

Traditionally her paintings have focused on the “domestic interior” and the intimate scenes of daily life. In her most recent paintings she has shifted her focus onto the “exterior landscape”. “My inspiration for this new body of works comes from my love of the American tonalist painters John Francis Murphy, Charles Warren Eaton and George Inness.”

On display will be giclee prints of some of these new landscapes as well as her familiar interiors. The giclee format is kept small, true to the original oil paintings. Unlike her original oil paintings these giclees are priced for the modest collector.

We Are Traffic!
50 minute documentary, directed by Ted White, 1999

We Are Traffic! chronicles the history and development of the 'Critical Mass' bicycle movement, one of the most spirited and dynamic social/political movements of the apathetic 90's. In over 200 cities in 14 different countries, Critical Mass has now become a monthly ritual of reclaiming the streets by bicycle activists riding en masse.
