Artist: Art as Witness Medium: Mixed Media Venue: Elusie Gallery Address: 43 Main St. Event: The Eastmont Art Fund's second annual fundraising art exhibit 'Art as Witness, Capturing Community Values.” Proceeds will be used to hire local artists to teach cultural workshops at the 2008 Family Gathering, a community-building program organized by the Easthampton-based Rosenberg Fund for Children. February 16th through March 22nd. The Eastmont Art Fund's mission is to involve local artists in fundraising for local organizations to their MUTUAL benefit: artists receive commissions on all sales of original artwork, and the remaining proceeds benefit the designated community organization. Additionally, the jury–selected winning artwork will be published in a limited edition, archival print and both the artist and beneficiary group will receive income from the sale of these prints. Traditionally her paintings have focused on the “domestic interior” and the intimate scenes of daily life. In her most recent paintings she has shifted her focus onto the “exterior landscape”. “My inspiration for this new body of works comes from my love of the American tonalist painters John Francis Murphy, Charles Warren Eaton and George Inness.” On display will be giclee prints of some of these new landscapes as well as her familiar interiors.
