Artist: Kathleen Jacobs Medium: Painting - Oil Venue: Easthampton City Arts Address: 43 Main St. Event: Kathleen Dunn Jacobs, 'Figures, Landscapes' 'My work is simply a visual response to what I observe and to what moves me in nature. When rendering a subject, a figure in a room, a tree in a field, or an orange on a table, my goal is to simplify, distill and keep my work fresh. I hope to acheive spontaneity of expression and capture some necessary minimal essence to which all viewers can relate.' Kathleen Jacobs received a BFA in painting and art history from the University of Massachusetts. Her work has been exhibited throughout New England, and she is currently represented by the Kendall Gallery in Wellfleet, MA. She lives in Western MA. Artist: Yohah Ralph & Tony Sadlowski - 'Modus Operandi' Medium: Painting Venue: Nashawannuck Gallery Address: 40 Cottage St Event: Artists Tony Sadlowski and Yohah Ralph are teaming up this November at Nashawannuck Gallery in Easthampton to present an exuberant body of colorful paintings with a focus on vistas from highways, train yards, and the American landscape. The two artists met up at 1 Cottage Street in Easthampton, Massachusetts, home to Riverside Industries and a vibrant artist community, where each has employed their talents for over twenty years. Both Tony and Yohah paint from their imagination and memories, and included in this show are some pieces in which they collaborated together, swapping their canvases back and forth, rifting on each others imagery, color sense, perspective, and style, producing results that are absolutely kinetic, joyous in nature, and seamless in integrity.
