Grant The photographs in this collection were all made by gesturing with the camera as I snapped the shutter. Using the digital camera this way—as a tool to manipulate the colors, textures, and lines of a scene—feels like painting with pixels. On the in-camera display I review a picture, and take another and another based on what emerges. I repeat this process as long as needed to tease out features that catch my eye, seeking the essence of the subject and moment. The resulting motion effects are made in the field, not by computer.
