Artist: Kevin Germain Medium: Music Performance - Middle Eastern Venue: Old Town Hall Event Time: 5-6 pm Address: 43 Main St. Event: Kevin Germain is a graduate of Berkley College of Music, sufi musician, composer, teacher and dedicated husband and father. He has enjoyed the most eclectic of musical experiences ranging from the Classical Turkish group Cambridge Muziki Cemeyeti at the Jahan-e-Khusrau festival; performing old-time music with the Pioneer Valley Fiddlers; raising deliciously loud and raucous music with the Boston noise band Kudgel; to ethereal improvisations with the world music group Euphony Groove. He is currently working with lutenist Peter Blanchette's Happy Valley Guitar Orchestra on preparing an Concerto for Oud and 20 guitarists. Kevin has also published arrangements with Edizone Berben and is working on compositions using various untempered tunings in the hopes of eventually finding some day that one magic chord.... Artist: Marjorie Tauer Medium: Painting - Watercolor Venue: Mt.Tom's Homemade Ice Cream Address: 34 Cottage St Event: This show is entitled Delicious Landscapes. I love to come upon a beautiful landscape in Maine, Cape Cod, or right here in our lovely valley. To capture a certain light or mood in watercolor is almost as delicious to me as having a delicious chocolate ice cream cone. Watercolor is my passsion. I love to express a mood, a delicious sky, a fanciful landscape, just having fun with the flowing color, and always being aware of the composition, the balance in the painting, and to share this love with students. Artist: Jane Morrisson Medium: Mixed Media Venue: Nashawannuck Gallery Address: 40 Cottage St Event: 'It's all Greek to Me' Greek Art, Greek History, Greek Mythology, and especially the Greek Islands- I love all things Greek! The Fates- though not always kind- led me to the Greek Island of Mykonos, where I have lived and worked as an artist on and off throughout the past twenty years. Athens, a city so full of history and culture, the birthplace of democracy-but it is the light, really, that has me captivated- the brilliant light of the Greek sun shining on the white-washed Island homes reflected on the deep blue of the Aegean seas.
