Artist: Barbara Johnson 'Brick by Brick' |
Medium: Painting - Oil |
|
Venue:
Nashawannuck Gallery |
Address: 40 Cottage St |
Event: This body of Johnson’s work reflects her continued fascination with the industrial landscape of Easthampton. Paintings based on the architecture of the mills-those transformed and those left behind in the transition- lining the Main streets and the light illuminating their facades and filtering down through the alley ways between them.
The fate of the Industrial Era experiencing many businesses relocating- often overseas- has created a void that is now being rebuilt- Brick by Brick –through the enterprise of artists. Attracted to such vast spaces in these sprawling brick and mortar machines, so ripe with possibility, art has become a new industry here. It is heartwarming to be part of Nash gallery, on Cottage Street across from these very Mills, devoted to reflecting the productivity of this artists community, in it’s many varied forms.

Medium: Music Performance |
|
Venue:
Luthiers Co op |

6pm: Jake Klar
Jake Klar is an 18-year-old, up-and-coming singer-songwriter. Born in Florida, he lived in Connecticut for fourteen years and is now hailing from Amherst, MA. His songwriting is influenced by Folk, Country, Americana, Blues, and Old Time songs and singers. To pick only a few from his bucket of influences - Roscoe Holcomb, Townes Van Zandt, The Carter Family, Big Bill Broonzy, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and Woody Guthrie.
7pm: Laura Siersema
Talon of the Blackwater, Berklee graduate Laura Siersema's third independent release, is 'fiercely original', challenging and ambitious. Lush, complex layers and the high qualities unique to her voice transform the folk music of her childhood into a 'depth and scale of music so strong, a soul searing connection to it becomes inevitable.' |

Artist: Erin McNally |
Medium: Paper |
|
Venue:
White Square |
Address: 86 Cottage Street |
Event: Join us for November's Art Walk when we will feature the paper cut art and ephemera of Northampton artist Erin McNally, with music provided by JENNY O.
McNally uses photographs to hand carve complex images out of single sheets of paper, emphasizing shadow, silhouette and the interconnection of shapes and lines. She strives to create an illusion of dimension, making each piece of flat paper gain a sculptural quality. The success of each image depends on the ability to create a puzzle within each cutting, taking special care to have each line support and connect to another until familiar and realistic depictions of people, architecture and nature emerge. |
